We are all DEAD!! We are born dead into a dead world ran by the prince of darkness. We spend lifetimes indulging in the desires of our flesh mind.  We have no hope in our works and there is nothing we can do to earn our way out of hell. 

BUT!!!!  Ephesians 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ ( by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
