Simul Justus Hoodie

Every Christian knows the fight: saved, and still sinning. The Simul Justus hoodie is a Christian hoodie with the Latin phrase that names it: simul justus et peccator.

What does the Simul Justus hoodie mean?

"Simul justus" means "at the same time just." "Et peccator" means "and sinner." While we are born again and saved by God's grace, we are still sinners in need of continued grace. John writes that no one born of God makes a practice of sinning. He also writes, "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." Then he adds, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

That is the balance found in the Bible. We are not free from sin in this fallen world, but we have an advocate with the Father, and we are called to a life of holiness. To learn more about the phrase, read Ligonier. Verses are from the ESV.
